Hi guys! It’s been about 2 weeks since I left South Africa but since then I was in New York for a week and now just got back home to L.A. so I’m finally getting around to share my South Africa trip with you all! My sister Dani and I were invited by Sunglass Hut to attend Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa in Johannesburg. It wasn’t our first trip to South Africa (we went earlier this year) but it was our first time in Johannesburg and it was so different from Cape Town or Kynsna. It was definitely fancier than the other cities in South Africa I’ve been to with less scenery than you’d expect but more people who were aware of fashion.
The first day I got to South Africa, unfortunately Dani and my luggage didn’t make it so we went on a last minute shopping spree at Zara and thankfully also at Sunglass Hut. One of my favorite pair of mirrored Ray Bans (the one with the green mirror lens that I wore all the time in South Africa) were in transit somewhere in my luggage so I picked up these blue ones from Sunglass Hut instead.
The first day in Joburg (short for Johannesburg) was the busiest day for us. It started out with a radio interview with the super sweet DJ Poppy Ntshongwana and Dani and I played a quiz on how well we knew each other. Dani and I’ve never really done interviews together so it was so much fun doing all of this together. Sometimes because life is so crazy busy I forget to sit and just take it all in but whenever I do, it’s always a pinch me moment. I never knew several years ago, I’d be able to travel to different places, different continents and meet so many amazing people and experience all of this because of my blog and especially with my sister. If you were to ask me, ‘what’s the best thing that’s come out of this blog?’ I’d tell you that it’s being able to meet so many great people through my blog and that I get to sometimes do it with my sister Dani. There’s no bigger joy than to be able to share this journey with the people that matter to you most.
Second day in Joburg, I finally got my suitcase back so here I’m wearing a Theory Blazer, Bcbg MaxAzria top, and Reiss’s Leather Shorts (similar here.) It was my own version of a business-chic look so I threw on a piar of Miu Miu glitter sunglasses.
Oh just casually having a beet salad with my Miu Miu sunnies and Benedetta Bruzziches clutch.
Third day in Joburg, Dani and I got to hang out and chat with some of the fashion bloggers based in South Africa. Some flew in from Cape Town to chat with us, and we talked about bloggers being competitive (trust me, there’s room for all of us) how to take great photos (hey, in my beginning days when my boyfriend wasn’t around to take photos, I’d ask my classmates or even contractors at job sites!) and other blog related things.
I’m having a moment with these Miu Miu sunglasses. Love the transparent frames.
I wore a Keepsake Sequin Bomber and skirt, Gianvito Rossi heels, and Prada sunglasses from Sunglass Hut. (I had these Miu Miu ones on earlier)
Stay tuned for the rest of my Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa with Sunglass Hut! xo
